Removing Spyware

The easiest way to find and remove spyware is to use spyware scanning software. Although some anti-virus packages will detect a few known spyware programs, it is not designed to find and remove spyware.

Some of the best SpyWare/Adware Removal software is available for free. Spyware removal software will scan your computer's hard drive(s) and look for known spyware and adware programs. After the scan, the software displays what spyware was found, and allows you to quarantine and/or remove it.

Spyware removal software uses a databases of known programs (similar to your anti-virus definitions), which must be kept up to date.

The effectiveness of finding and removing spyware varies from program to program. Of the software currently available, New Age Digital recomends Spybot Search and Destroy and AdAware. Both of which, have a free version, and an easy to use interface.
